The Real Alcázar of Sevilla is a historic royal palace that reflects the city's layered past, shaped by Islamic, Christian, and Renaissance influences over many centuries. Originally developed on the site of a former Moorish fortress, the complex evolved into a series of palaces and gardens following the Christian conquest of Sevilla, with its most celebrated section being the richly ornamented Mudéjar Palace commissioned in the 14th century.
Renowned for its intricate tilework, carved arches, and landscaped courtyards; the Alcázar remains an active royal residence when the Spanish royal family visits the city. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has also gained modern fame as a filming location for productions such as Game of Thrones and Lawrence of Arabia; adding a contemporary cultural layer to one of Sevilla's most iconic landmarks.
